Christmas Markets - Berne Resort Guide

Resort Information
Berne is a wonderful city to visit in December, as it really comes alive with the Christmas spirit, with festive trees decorating the houses, and it has not just one Christmas market, but two, at Münsterplatz and Waisenhausplatz. The old town houses, many of which date back to between the 15th and 17th centuries, add a dose of charm to the proceedings as you wander through the cobbled streets and explore the famous arcades.
The two markets represent different fare, Münsterplatz being more focused on arts and craft, while the stalls at Waisenhausplatz have a more traditional offering. Luckily, they are just 10 minutes apart leaving you enough opportunity to fully explore them both.
The hotels we have chosen are ideally placed for visiting Berne and the Christmas Markets. Both are centrally located and a short distance to the markets. The Old Town is easily discovered on foot, with landmarks such as the river Aare and the Clock Tower making finding your way quite simple, but take a map just in case!
